PSD Scotland unites expertise from NES and NSS in a way that will allow us to accelerate national programmes to support the NHS to deliver better care, now and in the future.
We support staff with education and training, provide the tools and data that improve services, and run vital national functions such as procurement, logistics and blood, tissue and cell services.
PSD Scotland is the national health board with statutory responsibilities to effect sustainable change through workforce development, education and training across the health and social care system in Scotland, while working at UK level with partner organisations.
The Pharmacy team within PSD Scotland is responsible through the Executive Medical Director to the PSD Scotland Board and through the Board to Scottish Government for the commissioning and delivery of postgraduate pharmacy education in Scotland. SeniorEducators in PSD Scotland Pharmacy provide supportforthe development of key education solutions as well as support for educational supervisors and learners. This role provides a real opportunity to contribute to a critical stage of pharmacy education support
The Opportunity
This post involves being part of the PSD Scotland Pharmacy team, specifically the Post- Registration Programme for pharmacists (Scotland) workstream that develops, delivers and supports pharmacists early in their career on the structured and supported programme across community, hospital and primary care sectors of practice across NHS Scotland.
We are looking for a pharmacist with considerable experience as an educator to join our PSD Scotland team on a fixed term or secondment basis as a Senior Educator with responsibility for supporting early career pharmacists.
This is an exciting opportunity to join the team responsible for supporting educational supervisors and pharmacists early in their career on the programme which is aligned to the Royal College of Pharmacy (RCPharm) curriculum.
As well as supporting pharmacists on the current programme you will be part of delivering a new programme which is due to launch on 1st August 26.
You will be responsible for supporting educational supervisors and learners on the Post-Registration Programme for pharmacists (Scotland) and will contribute to the overarching delivery of the programme. Specific delivery of online educational support sessions to learners and their educational supervisors will be required and may involve some evening work. Sessions are delivered currently online via MS teams but for sessions during the day, there may be the requirement to deliver some sessions face- to face if required. The quality management of progress of those in training and progression therefore to assessment to receive the RCPharm credential as well as providing additional support when required is also key to this role.
Occasional cross-cover across other pharmacy workstreams may be required as part of the role.
This role will work collaboratively across PSD Scotland and the NHS Scotland pharmacy service, bringing pharmacy education and training expertise to the national context, promoting, and supporting educational developments across the career pathways.

1. Pharmacist Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
2. Significant experience as a pharmacist practicing in any sector (community, hospital, primary care)
