Hands-on Head of Engineering/ Tech Lead - to £130k - Ruby on Rails 🔥
The title is flexible. Technically, given the hands-on element it's an experienced Tech Lead role but given you're the first dev hire and will be responsible for taking the company through a big transition away from working with a consultancy, they're open to calling it Head of Engineering if preferred.
You'll join a company who are already established, but after a number of years working alongside a software development agency they are ready to start building their own in-house team, and this is the first dev hire. They have a number of Product people in the business already.
You'll be involved with creating the tech culture, building out a small team of Ruby Engineers, ensure the smooth transition away from the consultancy, and make strategic decisions in the data driven organisation.
They would like to find someone who is great with Ruby on Rails and deep architecture experience.

Tech stack: Ruby on Rails (essential), React (ideal) Postgres, Stimulus, Tailwind, AWS, Heroku, and some other smaller tools
This is definitely worth applying to if you would enjoy doing both hands-on and hands-off work for a business on the smaller side (less than 50 people).
You enjoy making technical decisions but also are a people person with some leadership experience either as Head of Engineering, Engineering Manager or Tech Lead.
