About the Role
A leading engineering organisation is expanding its controls and drive systems team and is seeking an experienced Power Electronics Control Software Engineer. This role focuses on developing, testing, and validating application software for advanced power electronic drive systems used across energy, marine, industrial and specialised sectors. You will work within a multidisciplinary engineering environment supporting next-generation product development.
Key Responsibilities
* Design, develop and maintain control application software for electrical drive and converter systems.
* Implement software that interfaces with a variety of control and peripheral hardware.
* Carry out software validation using HIL (Hardware-in-the-Loop) environments and laboratory test rigs.
* Collaborate closely with engineering teams including power electronics, automation and systems engineering.
* Support commissioning activities and participate in on-site system validation when required.
* Produce technical documentation including requirements, design specifications and validation reports.
Required Qualifications & Experience
* Degree in Electrical Engineering or closely related discipline.
* Proven experience developing application software for variable speed drives.
* Background in software verification, validation and requirements capture.
* Strong technical understanding of AC/DC, DC/AC and DC-DC converter topologies.
* Comfortable with occasional travel for technical reviews or system commissioning.
* Able to meet UK baseline background check requirements (BPSS or equivalent).
