Purchasing Expeditor
Salary: Up to £31,000
Contract Type: Permanent, Full Time
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week
Location: Telford, UK – Site 4 (100% on‑site)
The Purchasing Expeditor is responsible for ensuring the timely delivery of purchased materials, components, goods, and services in line with production, inventory, and customer requirements. Acting as a critical link between suppliers, purchasing, planning, and operations, the role focuses on proactively managing delivery performance, resolving supply issues, and reducing the risk of shortages or delays across the supply chain.
Key Responsibilities of this Purchasing Expeditor position:
Monitor open purchase orders and supplier delivery commitments to ensure on‑time, in‑full (OTIF) performance
Expedite overdue or at‑risk purchase orders through direct supplier communication
Confirm delivery dates, quantities, and shipping details with suppliers
Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date order status within the ERP/MRP system (Sage 200)
Identify potential supply disruptions and proactively escalate risks to Buyers
Coordinate corrective actions for late, short, or non‑conforming deliveries
Support root cause analysis with suppliers and internal stakeholders
Track supplier delivery performance and contribute to daily KPI reporting
Liaise closely with Purchasing, Production Planning, Inventory Control, and Warehouse teams
Support Buyers by managing day‑to‑day order follow‑up and expediting activities
Provide regular delivery status updates and reports to internal stakeholders
Ensure purchasing documentation is accurate and compliant with company procedures and Quality Management Systems
Maintain clear and auditable records of supplier communications, commitments, and actionsSkills & Competencies for this Purchasing Expeditor position:
Strong communication and negotiation skills
Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
Proactive, persistent, and solutions‑focused approach
Ability to prioritise workloads in a fast‑paced environment
Confidence dealing with suppliers at all levels
Strong data handling and reporting capability
Excellent IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, formulas)Experience & Qualifications:
Previous experience in Purchasing, Expediting, or Supply Chain roles
Experience using ERP/MRP systems (ideally Sage 200)
Good understanding of lead times, delivery schedules, and inventory management
Experience within a manufacturing or engineering environment
