Overview
Research Associate in Environmental Engineering
The Research Associate (Level A) will maintain and develop their scholarly research and professional activities through the pursuit of defined projects and contribute towards teaching and learning in the School. This position is based at the UNSW Water Research Centre within the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Sydney, Australia. The role reports to Professor Richard Stuetz and has no direct reports.
Responsibilities
* Maintain and develop scholarly research and professional activities through defined projects.
* Contribute towards teaching and learning in the School.
* Engage with industry stakeholders and collaborate across disciplines as appropriate.
* Undertake high quality academic and applied research with limited supervision.
* Publish research findings and present at conferences as opportunities arise.
Qualifications & Skills
* A PhD in Environmental Engineering.
* Relevant work experience collaborating with industry stakeholders.
* Knowledge and expertise in one or more of the following areas:
o Air quality and treatment
o Water quality and management
o Chemical and sensory odorant analysis
o Data science including bioinformatics and/or machine learning
* Ability to work constructively with practitioners in the Australian water and resource industries.
* Strong track record of publications and conference presentations relative to opportunity.
* Ability to work in a team, collaborate across disciplines and build effective relationships.
* Passion for teaching and learning development and delivery at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level.
* Willingness to undertake professional development of teaching practice.
* Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with diverse stakeholders and students.
* Understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values, and relevant policies.

* Salary: Level A - $91,381 - $121,838 per annum + 17% superannuation
* Employment type: Full time
* Contract: Fixed-term for 3 years
* Location: Kensington – Sydney, Australia
