Overview
Secondary SEN Teaching Assistants in Halifax. An energetic and compassionate individual is needed to support a secondary student with SEN needs in Halifax. The role involves supporting a student who is transitioning from primary to secondary school, with autism, epilepsy and associated medical needs, personal care requirements, and a focus on Speech and Language and communication (PECS and partial BSL used). There is an ILDP and an EHCP in place.
Responsibilities
* Form meaningful relationships with students
* Be confident in behaviour management and de‑escalation
* Be kind, empathetic and dedicated
* Be willing to undertake an element of administration
Qualifications and Requirements
* Experience as a SEN Teaching Assistant; suitable for someone with a primary SEN background who is happy to work in a secondary setting as a 1:1 assistant
* Ability to work with a student with autism, epilepsy and complex medical/ personal care needs
* Experience with Speech and Language support and communication methods (PECS and partial BSL)
* Flexible and adaptable to school arrangements; DBS check required (enhanced)

The successful candidate should be aware that the child is most likely to start at the school in September (not yet confirmed). There is some flexibility required and this can be discussed at interview.
