The Role

The CDD Operations function is essential for identifying and mitigating risks to Modulr, including Money Laundering/Terrorist Financing, Fraud, Sanctions, and other Financial Crime risks.

The FinCrime Manager, Introduced Onboarding is a pivotal role responsible for leading and managing a team within our multi-site CDD Onboarding function, ensuring Modulr has a comprehensive and effective approach to Customer Due Diligence. This role includes overseeing onboarding processes to ensure they meet both regulatory requirements and the company’s risk appetite. Their primary focus will be to deliver a streamlined onboarding experience while maintaining robust controls that effectively mitigate financial crime risks.

The role holder will ensure onboarding processes, tools, and policies are not only consistent, effective and optimised but also evolve with industry changes, automation and Modulr’s growth. Additionally, the role will emphasize continuous improvement by leveraging insights and data to enhance outcomes and efficiency. They will work closely with 2LoD Compliance, Product, Technology, Sales, External clients, and other teams to ensure the seamless integration of processes and tools, all while maintaining a strong focus on delivering customer excellence at pace.

This is an excellent opportunity to shape a market-leading approach that protects Modulr, our clients, and the broader ecosystem while ensuring a customer-friendly onboarding experience. We want to set new standards in how we onboard our customers and success in this role requires a combination of operational excellence, risk management, stakeholder engagement, analytical thinking, and a proactive approach to change.

Specific Duties:

* Develop, maintain, and enhance CDD onboarding processes, tools, and systems to support safe and rapid client onboarding aligned with Modulr’s risk appetite. We believe in automation but not at the risk of reducing our safeguards or affecting our risk appetite.

* Oversee and manage onboarding escalations and complex cases to ensure appropriate decisions are made while maintaining a high-quality client experience.
* Lead the multi-site team responsible for CDD activity, including reviewing customer information, identifying risks, and determining appropriate actions to mitigate risks effectively.
* Drive performance with renewed KPIs, providing training, implementing quality assurance frameworks, and ensuring continuous learning and improvement.
* Implement and embed efficient automated onboarding workflows and systems that balance risk controls with exceptional customer experience and speed.
* Ensure ongoing regulatory compliance by adapting to changes in regulations and supporting governance forums with relevant insights and reporting.
* Collaborate with Product and Technology teams to identify opportunities for automation and process improvements, ensuring that onboarding processes remain scalable for future growth.
* Utilize data and intelligence from CDD onboarding activities to identify emerging risks or trends and feed these into broader financial crime prevention strategies.
* Provide advisory support to internal stakeholders, ensuring onboarding teams have the tools and knowledge needed to meet operational and compliance requirements.
* Promote a culture of continuous improvement across the team and within the wider business.
