About the role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and committed pharmacist to join our Frimley Park Hospital Clinical Pharmacy team.

Training and Development

We have a structured rotational training programme which includes but is not restricted to general surgery, orthopaedics, elderly care, acute medicine, endocrinology, respiratory medicine and dispensary services amongst others.

We have the regional Medicines Information specialist pharmacy unit, and our pharmacists have the opportunity to complete training in this field, as well as in other specialist fields such as paediatrics, antimicrobial stewardship, parenteral nutrition and haematology.

Successful candidates will work closely with and be supported by our divisional and service lead pharmacists during all rotations.

Training and development of successful candidates is further supported by enrolment on a fully funded academic diploma. The diploma is completed over 3 years and includes the opportunity to become an Independent Prescribing Pharmacist. Progression from a band 6 to a band 7 post is automatic once relevant milestones have been achieved.

The successful candidate will have the patient at the centre of all they do, possess strong communication skills and work well as part of a multidisciplinary team. They will need to be organised, well‑motivated and have excellent people skills, as well as the ability to use initiative and adapt quickly to new situations.

Key Responsibilities

* Provide safe, effective and patient‑centred pharmaceutical care in accordance with NHS policies, professional standards and GPhC requirements.
* Clinically screen, verify and authorise a high volume of prescription charts (up to 1000), ensuring accuracy, legality and appropriateness of medicines.
* Identify, resolve and prevent medicines‑related problems, including interactions, contraindications and dosing issues.
* Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to optimise medicines use and improve patient outcomes.
* Support education, training and supervision of pharmacy staff, trainees and other healthcare professionals as required.
* Contribute to service development, quality improvement initiatives and audit activity within the pharmacy department.
* Participate in evening, weekend, Bank Holiday and on‑call duties in line with the departmental rota.

* Maintain accurate clinical records and contribute to reporting and governance processes.
* Engage in continuing professional development (CPD) to maintain and enhance professional competence.

Benefits & Working Hours

* These roles offer an exciting opportunity to work as part of a dynamic pharmacy team to provide dispensary and clinical pharmacy services to various clinical specialty wards and specialist services at Frimley Park Hospital, and its affiliated community hospitals.
* Although bank holiday, late night, weekend and on‑call service provision are expected, these are conducted with a healthy work‑life balance and fully supported by the pharmacy team.
* We provide first‑class development opportunities for all staff and have a wide range of professional, management and leadership, and clinical skills training available.
* Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust is committed to being an inclusive and disability‑confident employer and has been awarded the Gold for the Armed Forces Employment Recognition Scheme.
* We encourage applications from people who wish to work on a flexible basis, recognising that flexibility may mean a range of different working patterns and hours; we do our utmost to work with our staff to meet their needs and the needs of our service and its users.
