JAM Recruitment is working in partnership with a market-leading manufacturing business based in Telford to find a Purchasing Manager to join them on a permanent basis during a time of exciting business change and ambitious growth plans.
Our client manufactures a comprehensive range of aluminium foil wrinkle wall and smooth wall containers used throughout the food industry.
As a global leader in their field, they supply superior, lightweight, robust aluminium foil packaging for food to many leading retail brands, as well as foil containers for wholesaler and distributor markets worldwide.
The Purchasing Manager will be responsible for all aspects of procurement and purchasing of all goods, materials, and services, ensuring that the company's operational needs are met in line with their sustainable procurement guidelines, considering price, quality, and delivery to ensure continuity of supply.
You Will Be Responsible For
1. Managing the procurement and purchasing of all production and non-production materials and services.
2. Managing customer contracted and non-contracted metal demand and purchase contracts with all group and non-group suppliers.
3. Managing stocks of all purchased goods in line with company objectives and reporting accordingly.
4. Managing all group and non-group metal scrap contracts.
5. Demand analysis, purchase order generation, and expedition.
6. Supplier liaison and management, maintaining clear and timely communication and supply.
7. Managing all supplier contract negotiations and approvals, maintaining documentation, and proactively assessing renewal requirements.
8. Managing tender processes by gathering data, collating quotations, and arranging sample trials where applicable.
9. Leading development and implementation of processes to evaluate and report on supplier performance.
10. Supporting SAP purchasing implementation.
11. Driving cost savings and conducting regular benchmarking exercises to ensure the best prices are obtained.
12. Managing and supporting direct reports.
You Will Have
1. Extensive experience in Purchasing, Procurement, and Supply Chain within a manufacturing environment.
2. Experience in fast-paced manufacturing or FMCG environments (highly desirable).
3. Experience with Supplier Portals (desirable).
4. Experience with SAP (desirable).
5. CIPS qualification or working towards it (desirable).
