Community Home Enteral Feeding Dietitian
An opportunity has arisen for a highly skilled enthusiastic dietitian with excellent communication skills to join our team of Community Dietitians providing a service to patients across three geographic areas.
Based in Plymouth the successful applicant will manage a home enteral feeding caseload of adult patients in domiciliary settings. The post holder will need to have demonstrable broad dietetic experience across a range of clinical conditions.

The community team is part of the University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust Dietetic Department which provides services to Derriford Hospital and an extensive community area. The department has close links with the Peninsula Medical School and the dietetics course at Plymouth University. All staff are involved in student dietitian training providing A, B and C placements and participate in the training of medical students and other health care professionals.
Main duties of the job
This exciting post will provide Dietetic service to HEF adult patient across three geographic areas. This post is part of a supportive team based at Estover Health Centre.
***Preference will be given to internal Trust staff, as well as 'Priority' and 'At Risk' status including NHS At Risk staff throughout Devon who are able to display recent relevant experience as dictated by the Person Specification.***
Job responsibilities
To deliver specialist dietetic clinical care to adult patients requiring home enteral tube feeding within Plymouth Hospitals NHS Trust and the community it serves.
Person Specification
Knowledge and Experience
* Demonstrable Training/supervisory experience.
* Demonstrable experience of producing clinical guidelines and audit
* Extended Role competencies in enteral tube care
* Computer skills in database use and statistical packages
* Clinical demonstrable experience in community setting
* Proven evidence of peer-reviewed publications and presentations
Aptitude and Abilities
* Excellent communication skills with an ability to communicate with all levels of healthcare personnel as well as patients and their carers
* Expertise in the practical skills of nutritional support
* Effective teaching and presentation skills
* Computer skills in word processing, spreadsheets and presentations
* Good organisational and time management/ prioritisation skills
* Ability to supervise junior members of staff
* Capable of producing good quality written information
* Ability to lift feeding equipment / deliver feeding supplies to patients
* Ability to work well within a busy working environment
Qualifications
* BSc in Human Nutrition & Dietetics or equivalent qualification
* HPC Registered
* Completion of Clinical Supervisory Skills Training Course
* Completion of validated post registration training e.g. PENG course
