Eden Scott Accountancy & Finance Division are delighted to be supporting a leading organisation in Midlothian as they seek an experienced Assistant Accountant on a full-time, permanent basis.
With a legacy spanning over a century, this respected business is known for delivering high-quality solutions across Scotland. Reporting into the Financial Controller, this is a hands-on finance role with a strong focus on preparing accounts to trial balance.
You'll take ownership of core accounting processes, from managing journals and reconciliations to producing financial reports, ensuring accuracy and consistency across the general ledger. Alongside this, you'll support budgeting, payroll, and audit activities, contributing to the smooth running of the wider finance function
Key Responsibilities:
* Prepare accounts to trial balance and generate accurate financial reports
* Post month-end journals including accruals and prepayments
* Support the development of annual budgets and financial forecasts
* Manage payroll processes, ensuring compliance and precision
* Reconcile balance sheet accounts and maintain the general ledger
* Handle sales invoicing, supplier payments, and credit control activities
* Assist with year-end audits and provide required documentation to external auditors
Candidate Profile:
* This role is open to PQ or NQ candidates, or an individual with strong relevant experience
* Experience of supporting in the preparation of management accounts
* Strong IT skills, including MS Excel (formulas, VLOOKUPs, PivotTables, reporting).
* CIS experience is advantageous
* Ability to work well both to your own initiative and as part of a team
* Driven, proactive, and motivated
* Capable of working under pressure and meeting tight deadlines.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills
