Housing Officer needed in Bournemouth, £17.84 per hour – PAYE – Reference 5295801.
Role Purpose
To provide and co‑ordinate a high‑quality housing service, enabling sustainable and high‑quality tenancies through handling a varied caseload, acting as an escalation point for more complex issues, and providing expert advice on accommodation options. This role may also lead small projects impacting the service area, contribute to policy development, and engage with a range of stakeholders to improve service delivery.
Accountabilities
* Act as a point of escalation for complex tenancy and housing issues for colleagues and customers, ensuring housing options and management functions are delivered in accordance with policy.
* Handle a complex caseload, investigating varied matters across multiple disciplines and forming an appropriate plan of action, including fraud, safeguarding, and tenancy breaches.
* Determine whether formal enforcement proceedings should be initiated, liaising with enforcement colleagues and managing the case as required.
* Serve legal notices or warnings, attend and present evidence at court, and coordinate with legal officers, the police, and other experts.
* Provide reports on complex tenancy or housing issues to enable appropriate management and review.
* Co‑ordinate responses to issues such as anti‑social behaviour or domestic abuse, leading multi‑agency meetings and managing associated risks.
* Work with a wide range of stakeholders, proactively engaging tenants or residents, advising and educating them on responsibilities to resolve escalated issues or complaints.
* Manage or contribute to small projects that directly impact the service area to meet objectives on time and within budget.
* Contribute to the development of policies, procedures, and performance management of the team.
* Identify opportunities for improving working practices, procedures, and processes and support their embedding within the team.
This is a full‑time role on a temporary contract basis.
