Teaching Personnel are looking to recruit a Higher-Level Teaching Assistant to join a small primary school in Chadderton (OL9) in their Key Stage 2 department to provide whole class support, intervention support and whole class teaching cover starting in April 2026.

Role
The role of a HLTA will primarily be focused on providing class support with possibility of providing whole class cover as part of PPA provision according to the PPA timetable as well as providing short-term cover within Years 3-6 in response to unplanned teacher absence. You will work collaboratively with class teachers to plan, teach, and assess the KS2 curriculum so all pupils, including pupils with special educational needs and disabilities, may achieve success in line with the school vision, ethos and aims.
You will be expected to promote and support the inclusion of all pupils, including those with specific needs, both in the classroom as part of teaching support and through intervention work in the afternoons. Using positive behaviour management strategies in line with the school’s policy, you will contribute to a purposeful learning environment and encourage pupils to interact and work cooperatively with others. In some scenarios when teaching whole classes, you will deploy teaching assistants confidently and effectively to best support the academic and behavioural needs of pupils in the class.
Teaching Assistant
Ideally, the school would like to appoint a suitably qualified TA who holds a Level 4 qualification however, this is not a statutory requirement therefore, experienced teaching assistants with experience of providing whole class cover and have had planning responsibility would be encouraged to apply. Similarly, early career teachers who want whole class experience or fully qualified teachers looking for a different, flexible role would be qualified for this position.

The school are a small, community school with one class for each year group in Key Stage 2 with roughly 200 children on roll. They are rated as a Good School, with Outstanding personal development, behaviour, and welfare, with a focus on mental wellbeing and happiness within their children.
