Overview
The Radiography Department Assistant (RDA) is expected to actively participate as a member of the Imaging team and contribute towards the smooth and efficient running of the department, particularly in CT and Fluoroscopy. The RDA will assist the radiographers, radiologists and nurses in giving individualised care to the patients. They will cannulate patients and assist with operational flow of the department.
Responsibilities
* Contribute as a member of the department team to provide the highest standard of holistic care and ensure effective communication with other members of the multi-disciplinary team.
* Correctly identify and prepare patients for the appropriate procedure, including adequate screening for patient safety.
* Maintain confidentiality of all information obtained on patients or via clinical access.
* Support patient flow and assist with cannulation where competent (after training).
* Be prepared to be flexible in shift patterns and to work evenings and weekends.
* Ensure the safe and efficient operation of the department in collaboration with radiographers, radiologists and nursing staff.
Qualifications
* Looking for a caring individual with (or working towards) a NVQ Level 2/3 or Health & Social Care qualification.
* Experience in a busy Imaging department providing scans and X-ray examinations is desirable, with a focus on Emergency Department, In-patient and Out-patient services.
* Based at Princess Royal Hospital, with rare occasions to work at other Trust sites.
