Purpose:

Based in our London HQ, with travel to our off-site archive, the Archive Coordinator will support the Archive Manager to manage and maintain the Manolo Blahnik Archive collection and work alongside the Digital Archivist.

Responsibilities:

* Assist with cataloguing, image preparation and ingestion of records into Axiell CMS in line with Spectrum standards and internal guidelines.
* Support the Archive Manager and Digital Archivist in the implementation of the digital archive strategy for historic and future object and digital collections.
* Support the Archive Manager in the implementation of an Archive cataloguing strategy, arranging, appraising and cataloguing historic documents to ISAD(G) standards.
* Support in the development and implementation of digitisation programmes, preparing the objects as required. (e.g. works on paper, film, audio, photographic imagery)
* Support the Archive Manager with seasonal handovers into the archive object collection.
* Ensure accurate storage and transfer records for the archive collection.
* Contribute towards the development of exhibitions, displays and publications, as required.
* Support the Archive Manager with the care and conservation of the archive collection, providing ongoing support for maintaining storage site cleanliness.
* Regularly visit and work at storage locations in and outside of London. This includes occasional overnight trips as per business requirements.
* Assist the Archive Manager with enquiries, including both internal and external loan and research requests.
* Research and document the origins and historical significance of the archive collection.
* Ad hoc tasks as requested.

NB. The collection includes women’s shoes, men’s shoes, bags, accessories, works on paper, ephemera, photographs, books, archival material and a digital image collection (This list is not exhaustive.)

Skills and Experience Required:

* Professional Archive or Collections Management Qualification or equivalent experience.
* Experience with adhering to Archive Collection Policies.
* Experience using a Spectrum compliant Collections Management System.
* Experience of cataloguing to Spectrum Collections Management standards.
* Experience of Spectrum Primary Procedures.
* Experience of archive object handling.
* Experience and confidence in working with internal key stakeholders and external contractors.
* Awareness of conservation methods.
* Ability to be pro-active, use initiative and work independently.
* Excellent analytical and report-writing skills.
* Highly organised with excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
* Proficient in Adobe Photoshop, Bridge and all MS software particularly MS Excel.
* Excellence: High level of finesse and excellence required in delivery of all tasks.

Skills and Experience Desired:

* Experience working with digital archive management or preservation systems.
* Awareness of IP and GDPR policies.
* Awareness of ISAD(G) cataloguing standards.
