As part of a small ecology team within the Sustainability and Natural Environment team (SANE), you will lead delivery of ecological and biodiversity functions, providing specialised advice and supporting council’s functions, including Development Management, design advice to the New Homes Team, and strategic planning.
Key responsibilities:
* Deliver professional biodiversity expertise in support of council functions.
* Protect, maintain, and enhance ecological features at local, national, and international levels.
* Promote quality spaces within Winchester and the district.
* Supervise colleagues, manage workload and time, and work independently and as part of a team.
* Communicate effectively with the public, partners, contractors, suppliers, planners, councillors, and other council sections.
* Meet travel requirements of the post.
Qualifications and experience:
* High level of ecological knowledge and expertise.
* Experience providing biodiversity expertise in areas such as Development Management, design advice, and strategic planning.
* Strong organisational and supervisory skills.
* Excellent communication skills.
* Ability to meet travel requirements.
