Job Overview
Envirolab, a member of RSK Group, seeks an experienced Inorganic Analyst to join our laboratory in Hyde, Greater Manchester, UK. Envirolab is an analytical laboratory with a track record for delivering analysis competitively and on time, focusing on soil and groundwater samples.
Responsibilities
* Carry out technical work in accordance with Envirolab procedures.
* Cover day‑to‑day instrument operations.
* Ensure all work is according to UKAS and Envirolab QMS requirements.
* Calibrate all laboratory equipment.
* Carry out and document regular instrument maintenance.
* Process, calculate and check analytical results.
* Assist in preparation for various analyses.
* Maintain a high standard of housekeeping.
* Work within Envirolab's safety policy, paying due regard to protective clothing requirements.
* Train and assess other staff in Envirolab procedures.
* Report any anomalies or QC irregularities to the quality manager and accurately record such information.
* Recommend changes to procedures or working practices where errors or recurrent problems occur.
* Carry out routine QC reviews.
* Carry out regular SHEMS inspections.
* Any other duties deemed reasonable for this position.
Qualifications
* 12 months hands‑on experience with ICPOES, ICPMS, HPLC, TOC/DOC, Skalar, Aquakem/Gallery, including troubleshooting and maintenance.
* Experience in method development and validation is an advantage.
* Assistance in other parts of the laboratory may also be required.
* Organised and methodical approach.
* Ability to work in a busy environment and meet tight deadlines.
* Strong team player.
