Casual Event Staff – Sessional Youth Worker
We are looking for passionate individuals with expertise in working with young people and robust safeguarding knowledge to join our event delivery team. This is a key role and a fantastic opportunity to be part of a committed and dynamic team contributing to one of Turtle Dove Cambridge’s core services. We’re a small team and working hard to engage, empower and build confidence in young women aged 14-24 who are or are at risk of being NEET.
As Casual Event Staff you will be part of our bank staff team working flexible on a zero-hour contract with a rate of pay at £12.50 per hour.
The role of Casual Event Staff has a dual aspect, to contribute and assist in the delivery of a variety of events to the highest standard, ensuring client satisfaction, as well as supporting and encouraging the participation of young women’s involvement in event delivery.
Responsibilities
* Working as part of a team to deliver events performing tasks including:
* Food preparation, display and service
* Cleaning and washing of service items
* Uphold food hygiene and allergen awareness standards
* Liaising with guests, informing them about the food and drink options
* Supporting with the pack down of equipment and return to storage unit when required
* Encourage and support young women participating to take an active role in event delivery
* Take a supportive, enabling and compassionate approach to young women who may experience mental health challenges or other barriers to engaging
* Respond to any safeguarding concerns in accordance with Turtle Dove’s policy
* Promoting Turtle Dove and raising brand awareness at events as appropriate
* Taking photos at events in accordance with consent policy as directed
* Assisting in the coordination of transportation of young women to/from the venue when required – driving a 6 seater van if comfortable and licensed to do so
* Actively engaging in the event de-brief
* Engaging in Turtle Dove’s team activities and training
* Other tasks as directed by the Event Lead and Young Women’s Development Worker
Requirements and Qualifications
* At least 1 year experience working in the youth sector, including at-risk groups
* A robust understanding of safeguarding children and vulnerable adults
* An ability to maintain professional boundaries
* A strong teamwork approach
* The ability to communicate effectively and appropriately in a variety of situations
* Can manage stressful situations and respond to individuals in distress
* A solution orientated attitude and can effectively follow instructions
* Basic IT skills, able to use software including Slack & Asana
* Experience in the hospitality sector would be an asset
* Qualification in psychology, social work, youth work would be an asset
