Adult Social Care Lawyer
* Location: Sheffield
* Job Type: Full-time, Temp
* Salary: £49,754 per annum
Our client is seeking a dedicated Adult Social Care Lawyer to deliver exceptional legal and statutory services in support of the Council’s corporate planning, performance, and strategy. This role is crucial in ensuring compliance with statutory and council legal regulations and promoting continuous improvement in legal and statutory functions.
Day-to-day of the role:
* Provide expert legal advice, representation, advocacy, and support on all aspects of community care law for vulnerable adults, including the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005, and Mental Health Act 1983.
* Conduct litigation in relevant courts and tribunals and provide advocacy in first and second-tier courts.
* Draft legal documents such as statements, pleadings, instructions to counsel, court orders, and settlement agreements.
* Defend judicial reviews and other civil proceedings.
* Prepare reports for cabinet, committees, boards, and external agencies.
* Represent and advise committees, boards, meetings, members, officers, and external bodies.
* Mentor and support colleagues to achieve best practice and deliver training as required.
* Develop client/customer relationships and continuously improve the quality of legal services.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
* Recognised legal qualification (Solicitor, Barrister, or FILEX).
* Extensive technical knowledge in relevant legal areas such as community care law, mental health law, and public sector legal services.
* Project or management experience in a complex technical environment.
* Proficiency in legal systems and IT (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
* Strong analytical, literacy, and numeracy skills.
* Evidence of ongoing professional development.
