The post holder takes the role in managing the inpatient, day cases waiting lists and POA appointments for all consultants within all specialties, in accordance with Government Access Targets, the Trust’s Access Policy and private pathways.
Plans and coordinates elective admissions and associated pre-operative assessment clinics and theatre lists and is required to work in close liaison with senior managers, consultants, patients and the general public.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will work as part of the Clinical Administrative Unit to coordinate the administrative pathway of patients to ensure that waiting time’s targets are not breached.
Plans and coordinates elective admissions and associated pre-operative assessment clinics and theatre lists and is required to work in close liaison with senior managers, consultants, patients and the general public.
Have to ability to exercise initiative, independent judgement and decision making with situations arising.
To facilitate in service improvement to streamline a patient’s journey and to ensure that the Trust delivers a quality service and gold standard of patient care.
Must manage and prioritise own workload.
To be responsible for the addition, removal and modification of patients to and from the waiting list.
To ensure that any patient cancelled by the Trust is readmitted within appropriate timescales. Where necessary changing future scheduled lists to provide capacity.
To raise any concerns regarding waiting list management with the Clinical Administration Team Leader/Service Manager in a timely manner and in accordance with local/trust policy and take an active part in resolution or service redesign to review working practices.
In conjunction with the administration teams ensure that all patients for the specialty are added to the relevant waiting list working within the specified timescales and guidelines.

Please note that the Fordcombe Site is located in a rural area with limited access via public transport. You will need to ensure you are available to attend the time during the day and evenings. Access to a vehicle is advantageous.
