Job Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen to make a meaningful contribution to sustainable transport and community-based public service by spearheading East Dunbartonshire Council’s sustainable transport policy work.

We are seeking a candidate who would relish the challenge of improving sustainability outcomes and contributing to a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions through the development of an Active Travel Strategy and other sustainable transport policies, plans, and strategies.
\n
You will have knowledge of sustainable transport, including key Scottish Government targets, such as those set out in the National Transport Strategy (NTS2), together with the ability to think in strategic and policy terms to ensure that the Council’s commitment to sustainable transport and the Council’s net zero targets are reflected in all relevant plans, strategies and guidance.
\n
Key parts of the role include identifying innovative ways to support the Council’s wider sustainability and transport objectives, including those set out in the Local Transport Strategy and the forthcoming Climate Action Plan, and establishing a coordinated approach with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.

PVG / Disclosure Scotland
The following criteria applies to all roles within East Dunbartonshire Council where PVG/Disclosure checks are essential criteria

Where the post you are applying for is considered a Regulated Role under the Disclosure (Scotland) Act 2020, successful candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check, prior to confirmation of employment being made by East Dunbartonshire Council.
\n
\n
Please note, successful candidates will be expected to meet the cost of the relevant check which will be deducted from the successful candidate’s first salary payment.
\n
\n
In specific circumstances the payment could be deducted in instalments from an employee’s wages following commencement of employment. Approval in such circumstances will be made by the HR &OD Manager.
\n
\n
Should an employee leave in advance of the payment being deducted, the full amount will be deducted from the employee’s final salary.
\n
\n
The criteria outlined above will apply to existing employees of East Dunbartonshire Council who apply for roles for which a PVG/Disclosure check is required.
