Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner (PWP)

We are looking for a passionate PWP to join our well-established Talking Therapy service in Haringey. If you're committed to providing evidence-based treatment in a way that is flexible and personalised to the individual, we want to hear from you. We can help you develop personally and professionally, through regular high-quality individual supervision, and a range of team activities and ongoing CPD opportunities.

Our service has well established pathways for people with Long Term conditions (LTC) and we offer specialist LTC training to PWPs when available. With this support, some of our PWPs have been able to process into band 6 senior and lead PWP roles within the service. There are opportunities to contribute towards shaping and developing our service by taking the lead in a specific area of interest.

We are committed to developing our staff through supervision, training and research opportunities, service development projects and reflective spaces. We proactively support staff through wellbeing focused line management, supervision and a range of wellbeing initiatives.

We particularly welcome staff members who can speak and work in languages that reflect the diverse communities in our borough.

The post is a mixture of remote and office-based work from our Haringey locations and home. The post holder is required to work one late shift (12:00 to 20:00) per week.

Main duties of the job

* Under supervision, to manage a caseload of clients who have mild to moderate anxiety and/or depression referred and assessed by the GP, other professionals or self-referred.
* To support and assist patient referral to other services as appropriate
* In collaboration with colleagues and under supervision, to provide a range of evidenced based brief interventions using guided self-help methods
* To ensure that work is patient focussed, responsive to need and culturally competent and sensitive
* To assist in the running of self-help groups, activities and use of self-help material, information and other mental health resources as appropriate
* To follow Trust guidelines in relation to record keeping, data protection and confidentiality.
* To collect data relevant to your work indicating performance outcomes.
* To identify own training needs and update professional knowledge and skills
* To participate in staff development and appraisal systems.

Job responsibilities

MAIN DUTIES

1. Clinical Responsibilities

1.1 Under supervision, to manage a caseload of clients who have mild to moderate anxiety and/or depression referred and assessed by the GP, other professionals or self-referred.

1.2 To support and assist patient referral to other services as appropriate

1.3 In collaboration with colleagues and under supervision, to provide a range of evidenced based brief interventions using guided self-help methods

1.4 To ensure that work is patient focussed, responsive to need and culturally competent and sensitive

1.5 To assist in the running of self-help groups, activities and use of self-help material, information and other mental health resources as appropriate

2. Clinical Governance

2.1 To follow Trust guidelines in relation to record keeping, data protection and confidentiality.

2.2 To collect data relevant to your work indicating performance outcomes.

2.3 To be responsible for conducting audit and research appropriate to the post.

2.4 To audit appropriate health information publishing findings where appropriate.

2.5 To keep professionally updated.

2.6 To work with the team in developing policies/guidelines appropriate to work/role and review effectiveness.

2.7 To work at all times within the policies and procedures of Whittington Health, advising managers when gaps within the policy framework are identified and when existing policy needs reviewing.

3. Professional Development

3.1 To identify own training needs and take opportunity to update professional knowledge and skills through training programmes.

3.2 To participate in staff development and appraisal systems.

3.4 To actively participate in the development of the Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner role.


Person Specification


Education

* Educated to degree level (psychology or other related degree)
* Hold a Talking Therapies approved post-graduate qualification in "Low Intensity Psychological Therapies"


Personal Skills & Abilities

* Excellent written and oral communication skills in one to one as well as group situations.
* Work independently and effectively within a team
* Well organised and willing to learn new computer skills rapidly.
* Ability to secure health information from relevant health specialists to inform the process of assessment
* Evidence of innovative thinking to meet challenging health needs.


Knowledge & Experience

* Experience in working in a Talking Therapies service as a PWP or as PWP trainee, delivering evidence based low intensity interventions to primary care clients
* Experience or understanding of mental health issues
* Experience in working in a multicultural setting
* Knowledge of a range of mental health issues
* Be able to provide a range of brief solution focused interventions for adults who are experiencing mild to moderate emotional difficulties, particularly anxiety and depression
* Experience in working with other agencies statutory and voluntary

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.

£36,943 to £44,900 a year Inclusive of Outer HCAs pro rata, per annum
