Your impact
We are currently recruiting for a passionate and motivated Avionic Instructor/Analyst to work within our outstanding Training Academy, based in Yeovil.
The main purpose of your position, will be to deliver training, in support of our products, to meet the requirements of the customer (both internal and external) ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction. In addition to this, you will also be responsible for developing training material by researching and evaluating content from technical documents and for providing subject matter expertise for the development of high quality, complex, synthetic training devices developed for Leonardo Helicopters and/or external customers.
Please note that the role is a JFF Level 5 (Business Support.)
What you will do as Avionics Instructor/Analyst:
1. Develop training material with due regard to the agreed look, style and presentational form and standards
2. Deliver training (to the customer and internal workforce) to the required standard to meet fully the requirements and needs of the customer
3. Through training development and delivery, ensure you always achieve the highest standards of customer satisfaction, seeking to identify opportunities for improving training material and customer satisfaction where possible
4. Keeping your technical/professional knowledge up-to-date in support of business activities and share this knowledge with other team members as appropriate
5. Provide subject matter expertise for the development of high quality, complex, synthetic training devices developed for internal/external customers
6. Support training in the UK and at customer locations overseas
7. Undertake the collation and evaluation of engineering documentation in order to create and develop specific aircraft system training material within the Learning Content Management System
8. Lead subject matter expert (SME) for your nominated systems
9. Provide back up for the lead SME for those systems where you are nominated as deputy SME
10. Deliver system training, in a practical environment (skill of hand and on job training), to the customer and internal workforce adhering to all required legislation
11. Deliver system training on an occasional basis with the customer in aircraft trial scenarios either in the UK or overseas
12. Ensure compliance with appropriate legal and regulatory requirements including Health and Safety, COSHH and Security regulations that relate to you or your students during both theoretical and practical training evolutions
13. Carry out tasks within the designated budget and report any potential overspends against those agreed budgets with your team leader/line manager
14. Identify any area of potential cost saving within your area of activity/operation
15. Create student examination questions in your area of expertise in support of customer specific student examinations
16. Invigilate student examinations
What you’ll bring
17. Exceptional communication skill both verbal and written to be effective primarily in training instructional delivery and in the internal correspondence with training department stakeholders
18. An understanding of the Defence Systems Approach to Training (DSAT) and modern training analysis systems
19. Hold a formally recognised teaching qualification or be willing to study towards achieving a qualification
20. Educated as an aeronautical engineer to HNC level and/or served a recognised Aeronautical Engineering apprenticeship or equivalent
21. At least 5 years’ experience relevant to the helicopter industry or in a military helicopter environment
22. Computer literate and competent to use computerised multi-media training packages including primarily the Learning Content Management System (LCMS), training emulations and presentation suites
