Job Summary
We are pleased to offer a Pharmacy Technician role to join our dynamic team in a busy 2‑site practice committed to excellent patient care.
Key Responsibilities
* Fundamental duties include patient‑facing and patient‑supporting roles to ensure effective medicines use, shared decision‑making conversations with patients, medicines optimisation tasks (e.g. checking inhaler technique), supporting medication reviews and medicines reconciliation.
* Support medication reviews for new care‑home patients, practice patients, and patients transferred between care settings. Liaise with local community pharmacies, organise repeat synchronisation for existing patients.
* Assist the Clinical Pharmacist in Structured Medication Reviews (SMR) by organising necessary monitoring tests and discussing medicines with patients.
* Provide specialist advice on public health and social care needs, including lifestyle advice and tackling local health inequalities.
* Play a central role in shared care protocols and liaise with pharmacists for more complex patients.
* Support antimicrobial stewardship initiatives, medicines optimisation and management incentive schemes, and patient safety audits.
* Assist with implementation of national prescribing policies and guidance within GP practices, care homes and other primary care settings; support quality improvement measures, QOF and CQC inspections.
* Develop and manage efficient medicines optimisation processes, ordering, return processes, and reduce wastage.
* Supervise practice reception teams in sorting prescription requests; provide leadership for medicines optimisation systems across PCNs.
* Provide training and support on safe handling of medicines, including Electronic Prescription Service (EPS) and Electronic Repeat Dispensing (eRD).
* Develop relationships with pharmacy professionals and other multidisciplinary team members to support integration across health and social care.
* All Pharmacy Technicians must work within their competencies and hold professional indemnity for their role.

Person Specification – Qualifications
* BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Pharmaceutical Science or NVQ Level 3 Diploma in Pharmacy Service Skills or equivalent with underpinning knowledge.
* Current registration as a Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
* Evidence of commitment to continuous professional development in line with regulatory requirements.
* Willingness to participate in any relevant training identified to develop required skills.
Person Specification – Experience
* Essential: Experience in dealing with difficult situations; experience of working as part of a multi‑disciplinary team.
* Desirable: Experience working as a pharmacy technician in primary care (GP practice or a primary care organisation medicines optimisation team). Experience analysing prescribing data.
