Site ChemistAylesford, Kent£-Attractive SalaryOur client is an award-winning, privately-owned waste management company, specialising in chemical waste transportation and treatment. A vacancy currently exists for a Site Chemist to be based at the company’s hazardous waste treatment facility in Kent.Main Duties: * Assess, segregate and batch-in waste on arrival. * Sort lab chemicals and small packs according to chemical properties and associated hazards in a timely fashion, designating process routes to plant personnel. * Re-package chemicals safely for transport, including correct labelling, in accordance with transport regulations. * Flexibility to assist Mobile Technical team in laboratory chemical collections at customers premises to list, segregate and pack laboratory chemicals in accordance with ADR regulations. * Operate in a safe and efficient manner, using the correct Personal Protective Equipment and working within the Standard Operating Procedures. * Complete all documentation accurately, including listing incoming wastes, filling out waste analysis sheets & supplying processing batch sheets to operators. * Ensure that all Plant activities are carried out in full compliance with all Health, Safety and Environmental legislation. * Provide plant and laboratory cover at all times and provide reasonable out-of-hours cover when required. * Co-operate with site management in improving Plant operating standards and adopt a fully flexible approach to all site tasks on which training has been given.Essential Candidate Requirements: * Degree in chemistry. * Good knowledge of chemicals, properties & hazards. * Ability to apply chemical theory to good industrial practice. * Ability to follow instructions and ask questions when unsure. * Consistent & methodical approach to work. * Flexible and co-operative attitude and approach. * Ability to work in a team or individually. Ability to self-supervise. * Willingness to work outside in all weather conditions.Desirable Qualities: * Previous experience in the hazardous waste industry * Working knowledge of the operation of Waste Treatment Processing Plant. * Good working knowledge of Health, Safety and Environmental requirements. * Working knowledge of internal and external documentation requirements.The successful candidate will be required to work a rotating shift pattern as follows: 06:00-14:00 and 10:00-18:00.Ref: J9531
