Supply SEN Teacher Location: Scarborough, North Yorkshire Contract: Supply / Flexible (Full-time or Part-time) Start Date: As soon as possible Pay Rate: £150–£220 per day (dependent on experience) About the Role GSL Education are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Supply SEN Teacher to support a specialist provision in Scarborough that works with young people who have SEMH, complex learning needs, and additional behavioural or educational barriers. This role is ideal for teachers who are flexible, resilient, and passionate about delivering engaging, personalised learning to students who benefit from a tailored educational approach. You will deliver lessons, support behaviour, and help create a safe, nurturing learning environment. This is a supply-based position, offering flexibility around days worked, with opportunities for longer-term placements. About the School The school is a small, inclusive specialist academy that supports children and young people aged 5–16 with social, emotional, and mental health needs as well as a range of additional learning challenges. The setting provides a highly supportive and therapeutic environment, with small classes, strong pastoral structures, and a focus on emotional wellbeing, personalised learning, and building confidence. Staff work as part of a close-knit team, committed to helping every student progress both academically and personally. This is a rewarding environment where making a positive difference truly matters every day. SEN Teacher Responsibilities Deliver high-quality, engaging lessons tailored to individual learning needs. Adapt teaching approaches to support students with SEMH and SEN profiles. Manage behaviour calmly and positively, using restorative and trauma-informed approaches. Work collaboratively with support assistants, pastoral staff, and the wider team. Foster a safe, encouraging environment where students feel valued and confident. Ideal SEN Teacher Requirements Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or relevant teaching qualification. Experience working within SEN/SEMH settings (highly desirable). Flexible, calm, patient, and resilient in challenging situations. Able to differentiate lessons and support personalised learning. Strong behaviour management and interpersonal skills.
