We are seeking an experienced full-time Consultant Psychiatrist who will work at Cygnet Hospital Maidstone and provide senior medical cover on Roseacre Ward, our 16-bed personality disorder service for women. The post holder will be the Responsible Clinician and will oversee and maintain the care of all ward inpatients as required. They will also have responsibility for auditing the medical services rendered at the ward to ensure good quality in accordance with GMC standards of good medical practice and other relevant professional guidelines.
Cygnet Hospital Maidstone is a state-of-the-art, 63-bed mental health facility for adults situated in the Kent Medical Campus in Maidstone. Roseacre Ward provides a care pathway for service users preparing to step down to community living, using a recovery-focused model. The aim of the service is to support service users in managing their mental health, developing coping strategies, reinforcing daily living skills, and preparing for a return to independent living.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
1. Lead on the provision of high-quality care to the service users admitted to Roseacre Ward.
2. Act as a positive role model, maintaining a positive attitude towards patients, their families, visitors, and staff.
3. Take overall responsibility for patient treatment plans in conjunction with the multidisciplinary team.
4. Assess referrals & undertake mental state examinations of service users.
5. Undertake investigations, diagnosis, & treatment.
6. Conduct ward rounds, patient reviews, & clinical audits.
7. Lead the implementation of risk assessment, risk management, & embed clinical governance within the service.
8. Supervise reports for Mental Health Act tribunals & managers' hearings & attend hearings.
9. Liaise with the Ministry of Justice for patient transfers and leave approvals.
10. Maintain accurate patient records.
11. Ensure regular communication with the Site Medical Director and Hospital Manager.
12. Communicate effectively with patients, relatives, staff, and other stakeholders, maintaining appropriate reports.
13. Attend and contribute to academic meetings and adhere to professional standards for CPD as set by the GMC, Department of Health, and the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
14. Contribute to the Telephone On-call rota.
