Job Title:Power System Design Lead
Location: Isle of Wight – Cowes. Alongside ensuring operational excellence for ourexisting products, there will be the opportunity to develop nextgeneration radar products to counter emerging threats andcontribution to our strategy for new technology.Your new day-to-day will be exciting and diverse byapplying the principles of Systems Engineering across the entireengineering development lifecycle as you join in developing radarsystems used by those who serve and protectus. What you’ll be doing:
* Design of AC & DC powergeneration and distribution systems including sizing, protection,control, and the specification of power supplies and converters.This covers design and/or specification of an electrical supplysystem from 440V AC to circuit board voltagerails
Motor drives, control, andpositioning systems, EMC management andverification Specification of bespokeprocured hardware and management of associated sub-contractordevelopmentprogrammes Design verification using acombination of simulation, analysis, and test techniques includingsupport to EMC test houses and customerinstallations Generate design documentationand technical reports and provide Electrical Engineering expertiseto the project team
* Adherence to EngineeringLifecycle and contributing to progress, peer, and designreviews
Your Skills andExperiences
* Degree or equivalent in Electrical/ElectronicEngineering or strongly relatedsubject
Comprehensive/expert knowledgein one or more of the followingareas; Specification or design ofelectrical power systems including AC to DC conversion,distribution, regulation and conditioning including linear andswitch-mode supplies
* Familiarity with ElectricalSafety Standards, and ideally EMC qualification to DEF STAN59-411
Familiarity with relevantmodelling tools such as Matlab/Simulink would be beneficial aswould some awareness ofSysML Gathering of evidence tosupport acceptance, fitness for purpose, legislative requirements,and safety A rigorous approach to thesafety aspects associated with high power/high voltageequipment
