At the Walton Centre Foundation Trust we are looking to recruit highly motivated, committed Staff Nurses who would like to join our dedicated team. Applicants need current/recent experience in Critical Care and/or Neurosciences, newly qualified nurses with critical care/acute placement experience are welcome to apply. Our current Critical Care service has a total of 16 Critical Care beds.
We are looking for applicants who are committed to embrace this opportunity to develop a career within Critical Care and those with existing Critical Care skills seeking a fresh challenge, the acquisition of new skills and the chance to further develop their scope of practice.
We will be happy to consider applications from newly qualified nurses, however you will need to have your registration at time of application and have some current acute post registration experience or if newly qualified be able to demonstrate experience of working in a Critical Care Unit on placement during nurse training.

Main duties of the job

We have a dedicated Practice Educator Team that provide training and support as well as an excellent induction program following the Critical Care Network Step One competencies ensuring excellent career development.
Successful candidates must be able to demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, work well within a team environment, ensure high standards of care are achieved at all times and that patients are treated with dignity and respect. This is rotational post currently 4 weeks of days and 2 weeks on nights.

Role summary
The post holder will perform comprehensive assessment of patient nursing needs in order to plan, implement and evaluate care delivery according to changing health care needs.
The post holder will provide specialist knowledge and clinical practice in assisting with the provision of advanced support systems.
You will establish and maintain effective communication with patients, staff and carers/relatives and be a positive role model, supervising others and participating in their education and development.
Key responsibilities
Principal Accountabilities
Assess, Plan, Implement and evaluate programmes of evidenced based nursing care. Assist in the management and organisation of a clinical area. Participate in the education, development and supervision of other staff members. Work collaboratively and co-operatively with others to meet the needs of patients and their families. Provide a specialist knowledge and clinical practice in assisting with the provision of advanced support systems.
Clinical
Perform comprehensive assessment of patient nursing needs, plan, implement and evaluate care delivery according to changing health care needs. Collect, collate and report information, maintaining accurate patient records. Involve patients and carers/relatives in the planning and delivery of care. Work collaboratively with other professionals and agencies to ensure needs are met in relation to care input and support for ongoing care needs. Establish and maintain effective communication with patients, staff and carers/relatives. Recognise and respond appropriately to urgent and emergency situations. In adherence with Trust policy, implement the principles of infection prevention and control in relation to patient care and the environment. Actively contribute personally and as part of the team to the implementation of infection prevention and control initiatives within Critical Care and the Trust. Work with the infection control team to facilitate the training of staff in good hand hygiene and environmental cleaning and participate in all related audit programmes. Be a positive role model and ensure that all staff are aware of their responsibilities in the prevention and control of infection. Managerial/Leadership
Support the work of the nursing team, advise on critical care nursing techniques. Supervise others and participate in their education and development. Contribute to the development of services. Ensure the effective and efficient use of physical and financial resources. Monitor and maintain health, safety and security of self and others. After successfully completing appropriate competencies to take charge of High Dependency on a regular basis.
Education and Development
Develop own skills and knowledge and contribute to development of others. Lead responsibility for a specific function or area of knowledge/skills within the team link nurse, health promotion lead etc. Ensure own compliance and compliance of others with regard to mandatory training and PREP requirements. Clinical Governance
Ensure compliance with policies, procedures and clinical guidelines for self and others Continually monitor standards of care and contribute to improvement of
