Job Title: Compliance Manager Location: East Lancashire Salary: £45,000 - £60,000 (DOE) Job Type: Full-time | Permanent Overview A well‑established logistics and distribution organisation in the North West is seeking a highly organised and detail‑driven Compliance Manager to support and oversee the company's operational compliance frameworks. Working closely with operational teams and senior management, this role is responsible for maintaining regulatory standards, ensuring effective governance, and supporting continuous improvement across the business. The scope includes quality management systems (ISO standards), transport and fleet compliance, safety governance, and broader operational risk management. Key Responsibilities Quality Management Systems (QMS) Maintain and support the organisation's ISO 9001:2015 Business Management System. Oversee controlled documentation, version control, and operational risk assessments. Coordinate internal audit programmes and assist during external certification audits. Manage corrective actions, non-conformities, and continuous improvement initiatives. Support data governance and GDPR-related compliance controls. Operational Compliance & Risk Contribute to the organisation's operational risk management framework. Support the investigation of workplace incidents and manage RIDDOR reporting where required. Monitor workforce safety compliance (PPE, medical declarations, training records). Maintain oversight of staff competency documentation and compliance records. Transport & Fleet Compliance Oversee regulatory transport compliance and fleet accreditation requirements (including FORS). Administer fleet management systems (e.g., Convey) and monitor driver compliance (licence checks, onboarding documentation, tachograph data). Ensure adherence to Working Time Directive, DVS, and London Lorry Control Scheme requirements. Support operator licence compliance and assist with DVSA or enforcement interactions where necessary. Fire Safety & Facilities Compliance Monitor fire safety systems including alarms, emergency lighting, and associated safety equipment. Coordinate statutory inspections such as PAT testing, fixed electrical testing, and equipment calibration. Support contractor coordination for site maintenance and complementations activities. Claims & Incident Management Manage vehicle damage and personal injury claim processes. Liaise with insurers, loss adjusters, and legal representatives where needed. Support evidence gathering and investigations into operational or conduct‑related incidents. Additional Support Assist with wider operational compliance tasks across the business. Contribute to supplier compliance checks, customer audit responses, and administrative compliance duties as required. Skills & Experience Required Experience in a compliance, governance, transport, or operational role within logistics or another regulated industry. Knowledge of transport compliance frameworks and fleet accreditation standards is highly desirable. Experience with ISO 9001 or similar quality management systems is advantageous. Strong capability in maintaining compliance documentation and working with digital systems. Previous involvement in audit processes, regulatory reporting, or safety governance is beneficial.
