Warehouse Operative – Picker and Racking Co-ordinator

We are seeking a reliable and motivated Warehouse Operative – Picker and Racking Co-ordinator to join our warehouse team. The successful candidate will be responsible for picking and preparing customer orders accurately and efficiently, as well as managing the organisation, safety, and maintenance of warehouse racking systems. This is a key role in ensuring smooth warehouse operations and efficient order fulfilment.
Key Responsibilities:
Order Picking & Packing
* Accurately pick and pack items according to pick lists.
* Use handheld scanners or warehouse management systems (WMS) to track inventory movement.
* Ensure items are packaged securely and labelled correctly.
* Load/unload goods from delivery vehicles if required.
* Engage in heavy lifting as required, moving items weighing up to 25 kilograms or more.
* Operate forklifts safely to move goods around the facility.
Racking Co-ordination
* Maintain proper organisation of stock within racking systems.
* Monitor racking safety, report damage or required repairs.
* Rotate stock (FIFO/LIFO) to ensure proper stock flow and minimal waste.
* Coordinate with warehouse supervisors to plan and optimise racking layout.
* Support in implementing new racking or shelving as needed.
Inventory & Stock Control
* Assist with regular stock checks and inventory audits.
* Report low stock levels, misplaced items, or stock discrepancies.
* Keep accurate records of items picked, packed, and stored.
Health & Safety
* Follow all warehouse safety procedures and use appropriate PPE.
* Ensure aisles and workspaces are clear and free from hazards.
* Report any health and safety issues or near misses promptly.
General Warehouse Duties
* Maintain cleanliness and tidiness of the warehouse.
* Assist team members in general warehouse operations as required.
* Operate manual handling equipment
Requirements
* Able to lift, move, and carry items as required.
* Basic IT skills or experience with warehouse management systems (WMS) is a plus.
* Forklift licence and Aisle Master qualified
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Strong organisational and time management skills.
Working Hours:
Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM, with occasional overtime.
Job Type: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 6 months
Pay: From £13.50 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
