Overview
Graduate Civil Engineer - Infrastructure based in Edinburgh or Glasgow, joining the 2026 Graduate Programme at Stantec. You will collaborate with your team and wider cohort, developing civil engineering expertise within an interdisciplinary environment while supporting the delivery of major infrastructure projects across the Scotland region.
You will be involved in all phases of project life cycles, from feasibility through to construction. The team mainly focuses on the design of major highway schemes and infrastructure projects, including highway alignment, pavement design and drainage design.
Responsibilities
* Involvement in the development of concept, preliminary and detailed scheme designs.
* Prepare design reports, specifications and technical notes.
* Complete engineering design work and calculations, including 3D design models of projects.
* Research latest technologies and construction techniques, contributing to minimizing environmental impact.
* Assist in managing Health and Safety risks and proactively mitigate potential issues.
* Prepare cost estimates and support value engineering within time, cost and environmental constraints.
* Develop understanding of stakeholders involved in infrastructure design by collaborating with professionals from other organisations and disciplines.
* Support project management processes to monitor programme, cost and risk.
What we look for / Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent) with keen interest in the Infrastructure sector.
* Adaptive, collaborative, persistent and problem-solving mindset.
* Ability to work effectively with diverse teams and adapt to changing situations.
* Willingness to come into the office 4 days per week to receive sufficient support and team interaction.
* Eligibility to live and work in the UK on an unconditional basis for an indefinite period.
