We are seeking an enthusiastic and hardworking Catering Assistant to join our friendly, dedicated catering team at the Kingsway and Radbourne units. You may be required to work at other local sites on occasion.
Catering Assistants within the hospital play a key role in maintaining high standards of meal provision for patients, staff, and visitors. You should have good organisational and communication skills, be flexible, and demonstrate the ability to work using your own initiative and as part of a team.

Main duties of the job
To be an integral member of the Catering Team, ensuring the safe provision of catering services to patients, staff, and visitors.
The role involves working in the kitchen, restaurant, coffee shops, and pot wash on a rota basis as required.

Job responsibilities
* Assist with food service within the kitchen or with the supply of refreshments for meetings.
* Help in the cleaning and wash-up area, including operating the dishwasher when required.
* Ensure compliance with Health & Safety and Food Hygiene Regulations, following training and instructions provided.
* Assist in the operation of the HACCP system, checking and recording temperatures of freezers, refrigerators, vending machines, and cabinets in line with procedures.
* Set up meeting rooms or offices for the service of beverages or refreshments.
* Perform cashier duties, ensuring correct pricing and accurate entry into the till when working in the Restaurant and Coffee Shop.
* Reconcile cash at the end of shifts and deposit daily takings with the cashiers' office.
* Collect dirty crockery from offices, meeting rooms, and retail areas.
* Deliver and collect food trolleys to and from wards.
* Prepare salads and sandwiches for patients and retail, and assist with buffets as required.
* Assist with putting away goods from suppliers.
* Maintain high standards of cleanliness within the Catering Department, adhering to COSHH regulations.
* Perform any other relevant duties as requested by the Catering Supervisor or Manager.
Person Specification
* Some experience in a busy catering environment.
* Basic food hygiene certificate.
* Cash handling skills and experience with cash registers.
* Excellent personal hygiene standards.
