Anglian Water is delivering the multi-billion-poundFens and Lincolnshire Reservoirs Programme, and we’re looking for aSafety Business Partner – Reservoirsto lead the safety and wellbeing strategy across the entire lifecycle of this nationally significant project.
These schemes in the Fens and Lincolnshire, are the UK's largest water projects under the water sector regulator Ofwat/RAPID’s national Strategic Resource Option programme. Together they will secure water supplies for future generations across the East of England. Both are Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects (NCIPs) requiring development consent order (DCO) planning approvals and the establishment of new delivery contract arrangements with associated project financing.
As the Safety Business Partner, you will be the strategic lead for all health, safety, and wellbeing activity across the Reservoirs Programme. Reporting to the Head of Health and Safety and working closely with the Programme Director, you will be embedded in the leadership team to ensure safety is integrated into every decision and every phase of the programme.
This is not just a compliance role — it’s a leadership position that requires vision, influence, and the ability to drive cultural change. You will be responsible for shaping the safety strategy from the earliest planning stages, through procurement, design, construction, and into operational readiness.

What you’ll be doing:
- Lead the development and implementation of the safety and wellbeing strategy for the Reservoirs Programme, aligned with Anglian Water’sSafer Every Dayculture.
- Provide expert safety input from project inception through to completion, including early-stage planning, contractor procurement, enabling works, and construction.
- Lead ‘project’ health and safety professionals (including those from partners and supply chain) in ensuring health, safety and wellbeing processes are in place for all aspects of programme activity which will include (but is not limited to); on-boarding and induction, large-scale site survey and ground investigation works, and enabling works facilitation/construction activities.
- Develop and report on safety KPIs and metrics, providing insight and assurance to senior leadership and driving continuous improvement.
- Ensure compliance with CDM Regulations and other legal obligations, including client duties and assurance against Regulation 4.
- Support the development of emergency response and crisis management plans for the programme.
What does it take to be successful?
- Extensive experience in a senior health & safety role
- Relevant Safety qualifications or certifications including NEBOSH, CSP or a Health and Safety related Masters, Degree or Diploma
- Proven experience of working on major/mega infrastructure project development or experience on Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects (NSIPs) under the Development Consent Order (DCO) regime)
- Experience of proactively driving a positive safety culture within supply chains
- Experience of emergency response and crisis planning.
- Ability to produce documentation and reports for a range of audiences (both strategic and tactical)
- Experience of strong stakeholder management and business partnering relationships
- Ability to work with and influence directors and senior leaders to ensure the adoption of a leading health and safety culture
- Full UK Driving Licence
