Job Title: Leading Change Project Worker Hours of Work: 15 hours Location: L/Derry Salary NJC scale Point 3: £22,737 (£9,095 for 15 hours) Fixed Term: 30/12/26 Reporting to: Area Manager Job Role: The project worker will support young people in our Leading Change programme. The project worker will provide complimentary support to young people availing of our advocacy or mentoring support. They will also assist the project team to co facilitate the youth leadership program and peer support groups. Key Responsibilities: To effectively engage and communicate with care experienced young people and care leavers To support the project team in the delivery of our youth leadership training programme and co-facilitate group activities. When appropriate provide mentoring support to young people that are preparing to or have left care. To maintain high quality and recordings of work undertaken. This includes recording and collating emerging themes from our work. To support young people to design training materials/publications/promotional materials. To support young people in delivering presentations and workshops that raise awareness of the experiences and issues facing care experienced young people. To work as part of the Leading Change project team. To assist in the monitoring and evaluation of the Leading Change project. To participate in regular support and supervision. To work evenings and weekends as necessary. General Responsibilities: To comply with and implement VOYPICs policies and procedures. To attend and participate in team meetings and other relevant meetings as appropriate To attend training courses as appropriate To contribute to the activities, promotion and development of VOYPIC as an agency working on behalf of children and young people Undertake any other duties commensurate with the project workers role The key responsibilities above give a broad outline of the functions of the post. The post holder will be expected to adapt to changing circumstances and undertake other duties appropriate to the grade of the post as allocated by your line manager. Person Specification It is essential that in your written application you give evidence or examples of your proven experience in each of the essential short-listing Criteria. Qualifications and Experience Applicants will have had a personal experience of being in care and have a good understanding of the issues for looked after children and care leavers. Knowledge A solid understanding of the issues that impact on children and young people in care or with care experience. Skills and Abilities An ability to engage and communicate with children and young people in care or leaving care and support them to voice their views, wishes and feelings. An ability to communicate with key people involved in young peoples and care leavers lives. Promotes respect for all people. Literacy and numeracy skills The ability to travel independently An ability to work on their own sometimes but also knows when to ask for support. ICT skills e.g. email, word processing, presentations Desirable Experience of volunteering/working with children or young people Experience of user involvement and engaging with decision-makers Hold a full driving licence with access to a car.
