Main Duties
To provide support to the multi‑professional team by undertaking appropriate duties following assessment and planning of requirements by the urgent care practitioner, and by undertaking non‑nursing and ancillary duties.
Responsibilities
* Maintains effective communication and good relationships with children, parents, carers, relatives and staff.
* Accept delegated duties within parameters of capabilities and competencies.
* Complete documentation in accordance with Trust policy.
* Participate in programmes of in‑service training as required.
* Chaperone children during medical examinations.
* Maintain a standard of conduct and dress to sustain public confidence and promote the profile of health care employees.
* Contribute to prevention and management of untoward occurrences by responding to emergencies, summoning appropriate assistance, reassuring until qualified staff available, maintaining privacy/dignity/confidentiality, maintaining a safe working environment.
* Clerical duties associated with efficient management of the paediatric service, including answering the telephone and relaying messages.
* Check and maintain stock levels.
* General housekeeping duties.
Qualifications
* Level 3 in appropriate subject (or on pathway) or equivalent qualification/experience.
* Literacy and numeracy skills level 2 or grade 4 or above in English and maths.
Desirable Qualifications
* Working within an acute setting.
* NVQ level 2 childcare.
* A level Health and social care.
Experience
* Recent relevant experience in acute care.
Knowledge
* Ability to assess, plan, deliver and evaluate quality care.
* Ability to meet basic care needs.
* Ability to escal e clinical concerns appropriately.
