BUILDING SERVICES ENGINEER Clerk of Works | Building Services | M&E | Site Inspection £40 per hour via Umbrella | Initial 12-Month Contract Can be based in Stevenage or Portsmouth with regular travel between the two 35 Hours per Week SC Clearance Required ABOUT THE CLIENT Our client is a global leader in aerospace, defence and advanced engineering, delivering complex infrastructure and technical projects across critical environments. They are seeking an experienced Building Services & Fabric Clerk of Works to oversee quality assurance across multiple sites, ensuring all mechanical, electrical and building fabric installations meet the highest standards of compliance and workmanship. THE CLERK OF WORKS ROLE As a Building Services & Fabric Clerk of Works, you will act as the eyes and ears on-site, ensuring that all building services installations are delivered in line with design specifications, regulatory standards and best practice. You will conduct detailed inspections across mechanical, electrical and fabric works, identifying defects and ensuring issues are resolved efficiently. You will work closely with project managers, contractors and stakeholders to maintain quality and compliance throughout the project lifecycle. You will also be responsible for maintaining accurate documentation, producing reports, and ensuring all handover documentation is complete and to the required standard. ESSENTIAL SKILLS Proven experience as a Clerk of Works, Site Inspector or similar role Strong background in building services (M&E) and building fabric installations Experience within construction site management and quality assurance Strong understanding of Building Regulations, British Standards and Health & Safety legislation Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings Experience identifying and resolving defects and non-conformances Strong reporting and documentation skills Excellent stakeholder communication skills Proficient with relevant tools/software (e.g. AutoCAD, reporting tools) Full UK driving licence Active SC clearance DESIRABLE Membership with Institute of Clerks of Works and Construction Inspectorate (ICWCI) Health & Safety qualifications such as NEBOSH TO BE CONSIDERED Please either apply via this advert or email your CV directly to ryan.baker@searchability.com.
