We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Yard Assistant to join our team. This role is essential in supporting various warehouse operations, ensuring efficient shipping and receiving processes, and maintaining an organised work environment. Prisma Colour is a leading manufacturer in rotational moulding. Operating heavy machinery in a fast-paced environment, we pride ourselves on delivering high-quality products with a quick turnaround to meet our clients' demands. We are seeking a dedicated and experienced yardman to be responsible for all product on site and loads that come in and out.
Responsibilities
* Assist in the loading and unloading of goods from lorries, ensuring safe handling practices are followed.
* Support shipping and receiving activities, including verifying incoming and outgoing shipments against documentation.
* Ensure that the yard is secure at all times.
* Maintain cleanliness and organisation within the warehouse to promote a safe working environment.
* Store vehicles and property according to procedures and customer requirements.
* Perform heavy lifting tasks as necessary, adhering to safety protocols at all times.
* Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient workflow and address any operational challenges that arise.
* Plan the storage and parking of incoming vehicles.
* Waste management, empty bins and deal with recycling.
* Transport material to and from site.
* Perform maintenance and decorating tasks around the site.
Qualifications
* Previous experience in a warehouse setting is preferred, with a focus on shipping and receiving tasks.
* Strong mechanical knowledge is advantageous for troubleshooting equipment issues.
* Familiarity with materials handling techniques and safety regulations is essential.
* Experience operating forklifts or other warehouse machinery is desirable.
* Ability to perform heavy lifting (up to 25 kg) consistently throughout the shift.
* Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
* A proactive attitude towards problem-solving and teamwork is crucial for success in this role.
