Commercial Risk Solutions:

Our Commercial Risk teams are responsible in helping clients protect their business in a world increasingly exposed to new risks, whether that’s extreme weather events or the emergence of AI, and Aon aims to provide a tailored approached to risk transfer as well as our extensive ability to support with risk management advice and services.

Your role as a Client Management Apprentice in Commercial Risk:

Join our Commercial Risk Apprenticeship scheme as a valued and permanent employee from day one. Working alongside your colleagues, you will be supporting clients in the management of their insurance programmes. This includes both the placement and supporting our clients with risk identification. You will have the unique responsibility of supporting with some well-known brand names, ensuring they have the insurance cover, which could include a wide range of insurance from property through to cyber.


Your role as a Client Management – Commercial Risk Apprentice

You will join as a Business Support Specialist and will play a key part in supporting clients and helping the team manage expectations and delivering on time for our clients.

You will be supported by your colleagues, some having experience of the Aon apprenticeship programme previously, and others who will provide coaching from their experience of working in the Insurance market for many years.

Prepare to make an immediate impact, as our structured training programme will build your knowledge of Aon and commercial insurance, as well as putting you through your industry recognised professional qualifications.

You will be supported to develop your professional skills and future career progression. During your apprenticeship through your skills development, you will build meaningful professional relationships with colleagues and clients.


What the day will look like

* You will be part of a team from day one, supporting the delivery of client-facing activities
* Assisting in the day-to-day running of client risk and insurance programmes
* Carrying out administrative tasks contributing to the broking process
* Build strong working relationships with Insurers
* Opportunities to support our attendance at Industry Networking Events


Your Development

As an Aon Apprentice you will be enrolled onto our development programme when you join. This programme is built around 3 core elements:

1. Business learning – on the job learning and experiences giving you the opportunity to develop your knowledge and understanding of the team and solution line you have joined
2. Centralised learning - UK apprentices complete in an Aon Induction, monthly webinars, business skills training and workshops; all designed to help you develop your knowledge of Aon, build your confidence and your network across our business
3. Professional Qualifications – we want you to be as successful as possible, so we’ll fully support your study towards your level 4 Insurance Apprenticeship and Certificate in Insurance through Chartered Insurance Institute professional qualification. To support you as you study for your exams, you’ll receive paid study leave, plus an extensive range of study and tuition materials.

With Aon business leaders playing an active role in our development, you’re encouraged to make the most of every networking opportunity open to you. The early relationships you build will include:

Your Apprentice network – you'll meet Apprentices from all areas of Aon in the UK, helping you navigate our business and grow a support network from day one.

Your mentor – an experienced colleague who can help you out with career guidance, specific issues or any general thoughts or queries you have.

Business seniors – many experienced colleagues will be actively interested and involved in your development.

The Early Careers Team – here to help smooth the way, open doors and advise you on developing your knowledge, skills and prospects.


Your career beyond your Apprenticeship

Once you’ve completed the formal apprenticeship programme, you’ll continue to receive lots of support at Aon. We would expect you to be promotion ready within 18 to 24 months and you will continue to grow your career in the Insurance industry. You will also be able to continue your studies for the CII qualifications through to Chartered status. Alongside your development programme, we’ve mentioned above, you’ll have the chance to explore different career paths within Aon.

Entry Requirements:

* 112 UCAS points from your top 3 A Levels (or equivalent) or 280 UCAS points for exams sat prior to 2017 (excluding General Studies) i.e. BBC
* Five grade 9 – 4 GCSEs including Maths and English (A*- C GCSEs for exams studies prior to 2020)


What are we looking for?

* Motivation and ambition – you will need to be able to articulate why you want a career in insurance or reinsurance
* Commercial awareness – this helps us to provide support and advice to our clients with clarity and confidence
* Passion and curiosity - understand the value of and be passionate about delivering excellent Client Service
* Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to adapt your style for different groups of people

We recognise the value for our Early Career colleagues of being in the office environment from the beginning of their programme. As a new apprentice, you will spend the first 6 months based in the office to support your learning, development, and progression.

This will enable you access to support from managers, collaborate with colleagues as well as grow your network across Aon. After completing this initial training period, you will then have the opportunity to work more flexibly, spending at least 3 to 4 days face to face in the Aon office or with clients.


Right to work

Our apprentices are on permanent contracts from day one. We welcome applications from candidates who have their own right to work within the UK where you can maintain and demonstrate your right to work throughout the duration of your employment. This may include pre-settled or settled status from the EU Settlement Scheme – or if you have applied and you are waiting for a decision.


Aon UK Apprentice Recruitment: What to Expect

We know applying for your first apprentice role can be exciting, and sometimes a little daunting. At Aon, we’re committed to making our recruitment process as transparent and supportive as possible. Here’s how our selection journey works, and what you can expect at each stage:

1. Application Review
o We process applications on a rolling basis, moving candidates forward as they complete each stage.
o Every application is carefully reviewed by our team (not by AI).
o Due to the high volume of interest, this stage can take up to two weeks.
o Please note: We do not review CVs or cover letters at this point.
2. Video Interview
o Preparation matters, so you’ll have up to 10 days (240 hours) from receiving your invitation to record and submit your video interview.
o Rest assured: Every video interview is reviewed by a real member of our recruitment team, not an AI system.
o You’ll typically hear back from us within 2-3 weeks after submitting your interview, though times may vary depending on the number of applications.
3. Assessment Centres
o Our assessment centres are held in person at the Aon office closest to the location you applied for.
o Please note: Due to the large number of applications, not every candidate who completes a video interview will be invited to an assessment centre.
o If selected, you’ll have 7-14 days’ notice to help you arrange any travel.
o We run a limited number of Assessment Centre so please make every effort to attend if invited. These will begin in February/March 2026.
o We reimburse reasonable travel costs (such as standard class train tickets). Flights and hotels are only covered if agreed in advance.
o At the assessment centre stage, your CV and cover letter will be shared with hiring managers. This helps them get a fuller picture of you as a candidate—but these documents are not used for initial screening.
