Summary
Title of the Post: Night Porter/Security
Reporting to: Office Manager
Hours of Work: This is a night working role: 11pm – 7am.
Days of Work: Sun, Mon, Tues, Wed.
Salary: £14.40 per hour
Basis: Part-time.
Timetable:

Particulars of This Post
The Bar Convent Living Heritage Centre incorporates a refurbished and upgraded Guest House with 22 en-suite rooms, we also have a highly rated Café and popular Conferencing facilities as well as an on-site exhibition with some globally important items on display.
The Centre is an historic and important building in York, which offers facilities for conferencing and an overnight accommodation. As a result, the Trust seeks a colleague who can provide overnight support to arrange conference facilities, proactively manage security, respond to customer service requests and lead evacuation procedures should the need arise.
The Trust therefore seeks a responsible, capable and active person who is happy to provide overnight support on a rota basis and for holiday cover.
Responsibilities:
* To secure internal, external doors and other facilities as part of closing down routine.
* Monitoring CCTV internal and external camera devices, safely investigating any concerns and liaising with emergency services if risks are identified.
* Providing routine/timely security checks around the building.
* Set up conference rooms in accordance with daily booking sheets, generally tidying conference, supplying equipment and preparing rooms for the following day.
* Dealing with miscellaneous customer enquiries including items required, help required, overnight queries/complaints etc.
* Responsibly and diligently learning a working knowledge of our evacuation procedure and fire system ensuring that guests can safely escape the building should the need arise.
* Providing supervised house maintenance tasks in support of the Site Manager.
* Assisting the Site Manager in conducting health and safety checks and performing these checks in the Site Manager's absence.
· Welcoming late arrivals, taking payment if necessary, checking them in, directing them to their rooms and explaining Guest House arrangements (breakfast, access etc).
· Provide a handover to morning shift advising any relevant guest related issues/needs and any other points to note.
· Recording and requesting repairs and maintenance work within the Guest House in conjunction with the Site Manager.
* Answer any incoming out of hour's telephone calls and emails, forwarding them or taking messages as necessary.
* To carry out any other related tasks at the request of the General Manager.
* Provide basic holiday/sickness cover for other colleagues

Requirements
* This is a night working role overseeing the safety and security of the building and guests, so the role holder must be able to remain awake and alert during their shift.
* Due to being a lone working role, all breaks must be taken inside the Reception Office or Atrium should a guest have a need or an emergency arises. Please note the role holder is unable to leave the grounds of the premises during their shift.
