Senior Accountant
Location: Swadlincote
Salary: Up to £45,000 per year (depending on experience)
Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 5:00pm
Contract: Permanent
We are working with a highly reputable business based in Swadlincote, now seeking a skilled and experienced Senior Accountant to join their team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a finance professional looking to take ownership of a stand-alone role within a respected organisation.
The Role
As Senior Accountant, you will take full responsibility for the finance function, managing everything from day-to-day transactional duties through to month-end management reporting. This role is suited to someone who enjoys variety, autonomy, and is confident working independently across all aspects of finance.
Key Responsibilities
Your duties will include, but not be limited to:
• Financial administration including maintaining accurate financial records, filing, and ensuring compliance with policies and procedures
• Accounts payable including processing supplier invoices, reconciling statements, managing payment runs, and handling supplier queries
• Accounts receivable including raising customer invoices, monitoring debtors, managing credit control, and ensuring timely payments
• Payroll including processing payroll accurately, ensuring compliance with HMRC requirements and pension contributions
• VAT returns including preparing and submitting in line with legislation
• Banking and cashflow including daily bank reconciliations, monitoring cashflow, and producing forecasts
• Month-end and year-end including reconciliations, journals, accruals, prepayments, and preparing management accounts
• Financial reporting including producing reports and analysis to support decision making
• Liaison with external partners including auditors, accountants, banks, and HMRC
• Process improvement including reviewing and improving finance systems and controls to ensure efficiency and accuracy
About You
We’re looking for a confident and capable finance professional who can work independently and deliver results. The successful candidate will have:
• CIMA/ACCA qualification, or be qualified by experience
• Strong experience with VAT returns and payroll processing
• Proven knowledge of management accounts and month-end procedures
• Background in accounts receivable and accounts payable management
• Excellent organisational skills with strong attention to detail
• Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to liaise at all levels
