Offer description

Up to £70,000 + car allowance + bonus

Midlands (regional remit across central & eastern England) | Hybrid with regional travel

We're partnering with a large, national organisation that manages a significant portfolio of essential public-service sites across England, from clinical environments to office and operational settings. They are looking to appoint an experienced Employee Relations Case Manager to lead on complex ER casework across a broad regional remit.

This is a senior, permanent role in a small, specialist team, reporting into the Head of Colleague Relations

You will:

* Manage a portfolio of complex ER cases, focusing on depth and quality rather than high-volume churn.
* Advise and coach managers through investigations, disciplinaries, grievances, appeals, absence, performance, discrimination and flexible working matters.
* Provide clear, balanced, risk-aware advice on employment law and policy - helping managers reach fair, defensible and values-aligned outcomes.
* Use case data and trends to identify root causes and shape proactive learning and coaching for managers.
* Support and influence a positive workplace culture, encouraging early and informal resolution where appropriate while protecting organisational risk.
* Work closely with HR/People colleagues and operational leaders to ensure a consistent, high-quality ER approach across multiple sites.

You'll be based from one primary site in the Midlands, with travel across the wider region (including parts of the East) with travel expenses covered and occasional overnight stays. There will also be occasional visits to the London head office.

About you

You're an experienced ER specialist who is comfortable being the go‑to person for sensitive, complex issues.

You will bring:

* Significant hands-on experience leading complex ER casework in a multi-site, fast-paced organisation (e.g. large public sector body, healthcare, retail, logistics or similar).
* Strong, current knowledge of UK employment law and HR policy, and the ability to apply it pragmatically rather than theoretically.
* CIPD Level 7 (essential), with a commitment to ongoing professional development.
* Credibility and gravitas - you can adapt your style seamlessly from frontline colleagues through to senior leaders and executives.
* A calm, balanced approach to risk, weighing legal, cultural and commercial factors in your advice.
* Strong stakeholder skills - you're approachable, honest, and able to have straightforward conversations, even when the message is challenging.
* Ideally, experience of TUPE and consultation activity (helpful for upcoming change, but not the core focus of the role).

You'll enjoy this role if you like working with a degree of ambiguity, are comfortable operating at pace, and value being trusted for your judgement rather than heavily prescribed processes.

What's on offer

* Salary up to £70,000, depending on experience
* Car allowance
* Bonus opportunity up to 10%
* 27 days' annual leave plus bank holidays
* Access to benefits aligned with an organisation delivering essential public services (including Blue Light Card eligibility)
