Job Details

Fife Council is recruiting a Bairns’ Hoose Co‑ordinator to support the development, delivery, and coordination of Fife’s Bairns’ Hoose—one of Scotland’s national pathfinder sites. This is a permanent, full‑time role (36 hours per week) based in Glenrothes, with travel across Fife required to meet children, young people, and families.

Bairns’ Hoose is the Scottish Government’s commitment to ensuring children and young people have access to trauma‑informed recovery, support, and justice. This post offers an exciting opportunity to shape a developing service that places children’s rights, wellbeing, and safety at its heart.

In this role, you will work collaboratively with partners—including Social Work, Health, Police, and third‑sector organisations—to support children and families throughout their care, protection, and justice journey. You will contribute to the management of Fife Bairns’ Hoose, oversee the work of Bairns’ Hoose Support Workers, and ensure high‑quality, child‑centred practice at all stages.

Key Responsibilities of the Bairns’ Hoose Coordinator include,

• Provide line management, supervision, and support to Bairns’ Hoose Support Workers.

• Lead, manage, and co‑ordinate service activities to achieve positive outcomes for children, young people, and families.

• Ensure the quality, consistency, and effectiveness of the Bairns’ Hoose service.

• Establish and maintain efficient administrative and recording systems.

• Create a warm, welcoming, trauma‑informed environment for children and families.

• Advocate for the rights and voices of children and young people.

• Shape and develop services based on needs, trends, and direct feedback.

• Participate in external networks and multi‑agency forums.

• Engage children, young people, and carers in shaping Fife’s Bairns’ Hoose.

The Children and Families, and Justice Service is committed to supporting its workforce to be skilled, confident and competent. We offer a range of support to our employees, including:

1. A commitment to regular, reflective supervision focused on professional development.

2. A culture where your voice matters and opportunities are available to shape how we work as a service.

3. Bespoke training and a range of career development opportunities.

4. Generous annual leave and flexible working opportunities.

5. Competitive salaries.

6. A local government pension scheme, along with employee benefits and rewards.

The Person

7. You will hold a Degree, Diploma, or equivalent qualification at SCQF Level 9 and have:

8. Significant experience in children’s services, including supporting children who have experienced trauma or risk of harm.

9. Experience working with parents, carers, and multi‑agency partners.

10. Knowledge of trauma‑informed practice, child development, and assessment frameworks.

11. Strong understanding of stakeholder roles, governance, and standards.

12. Experience implementing systems, processes, and quality assurance approaches.

13. Leadership, supervisory, motivational, and coaching skills.

14. Ability to manage complex situations with professional autonomy.

15. Knowledge of Fife Council guidelines and reporting responsibilities.

16. You will be required to register with the appropriate regulatory body.

17. Travel across Fife is desirable.

Before confirming to your appointment, you will be required to obtain Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland and become a member of the relevant PVG scheme.
