To meet our growing UK business needs and future development aspirations, we are looking for a Design Lead to join our Lighting & Energy Solutions team. Ideally based in our Southampton, Newcastle, Manchester, or Birmingham offices, we could consider this role based out of any UK office.
This role supports our Strategic Road Network lighting team within the Highway sector, working on significant projects under the National Highways Scheme Delivery Framework (SDF) Contract, focusing on Highways maintenance projects in North-West, Eastern, and Southern regions.
A little more about your role…
As Design Lead, you will support National Highways in delivering projects for the SDF Framework and assist the Lighting Team Leader in quality control and assurance.
A typical week:
You will assist with document control for all documents received and issued from the SDF Team leaders for the North-West, Eastern, or Super South regions. Your duties will include:
* Managing general project administration tasks
* Supporting Stakeholders
* Assisting Project Managers with procurement, purchase orders, and invoicing
* Managing Project Charge Codes, monitoring, and programming delivery schedules
* Supporting project reviews and outcome reporting
* Creating lighting designs using Lighting Reality or similar software
* Producing MCHW specifications and supporting documentation
* Participating in asset clash detection and resolution at BIM level 2 (desirable)
* Developing risk assessments and design decision documentation
* Conducting site visits to check road lighting, signage assets, and feeder pillars for safety (G39 and ECS cards desirable)
What we will be looking for you to demonstrate…
* Minimum of EngTech qualification and working towards registration with the Engineering Council (EngTech, IEng, or CEng)
* Proficiency in Lighting Reality Design Software and AutoCAD
* Good electrical design and operational knowledge
* Experience in lighting design projects
* Desirable: consideration of environmental factors in highway lighting design
* Ability to support and develop junior team members
* Understanding of central management system technology
* Ability to work independently and in a team
* Good prioritization and flexibility skills
* Experience within the Highway sector
* Fluent spoken and written English and good IT skills
