We provide market‑leading support to a wide variety of clients including employers in the private and public sectors and charities. We advise companies in sectors such as education, transport, construction, manufacturing and the arts. We advise on all aspects of employment law including discrimination, whistleblowing, unfair dismissal, redundancy, disciplinary and grievance issues, large‑scale restructuring projects and TUPE. Our team is instructed in litigation in the Employment Tribunal and the civil courts and has represented clients in high‑profile, high‑value litigations in Scotland in recent years.
The Role
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Associate to join our Glasgow team on a hybrid working basis. This role focuses on employment law advisory and litigation, with a strong emphasis on contentious matters. The successful candidate will spend the majority of their time acting for employers on a varied and dynamic caseload. Responsibilities include managing a broad range of contentious and non‑contentious employment matters, conducting Employment Tribunal advocacy where appropriate, and supporting and contributing to business development initiatives.
Essential Skills & Experience
* Strong technical expertise in employment law.
* Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with the wider team.
* Proven ability to build and maintain strong client relationships.
* Experience in business development activities.
* Ability to supervise and lead junior team members on projects.
* Commitment to mentoring and supporting colleagues.
* Experience handling Employment Tribunal litigation and advocacy.
* Strong drafting skills, including pleadings, contracts and advisory documentation.
* Commercial awareness with the ability to deliver pragmatic, client‑focused advice.
* Excellent organisational and time‑management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
* Confidence in managing client relationships and acting as a key point of contact.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
* Experience advising employers on complex HR and workplace issues.
* A proactive and solutions‑oriented approach to problem solving.
