About the Role
Staffline Recruitment Ireland are currently recruiting Residential Care Workers to join an innovative children's residential service in the Dromore area.
This service provides therapeutic, person-centred care for young people aged 12-18 who may have experienced trauma and present with challenging behaviours. The aim is to support them in a safe, structured environment and help them transition to more independent living.
This is a rewarding but challenging role, requiring resilience, empathy, and a genuine passion for improving outcomes for vulnerable young people.
Key Responsibilities
1. Support young people using trauma-informed and person-centred approaches
2. Build positive, trusting relationships and promote emotional well-being
3. Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
4. Manage and respond to challenging behaviours (verbal and physical)
5. Contribute to care planning, risk assessments, and daily record keeping
6. Apply safeguarding and child protection procedures
7. Liaise with social services, health professionals, and community agencies
8. Take lead responsibility on shift when required
Essential Requirements
9. Degree in Youth Work, Social Work, Level 3 Health & Social Care, Youth Work, or related field
10. Open to AYE Social Workers
11. Experience working with children and young people, particularly those with challenging behaviour
12. Understanding of trauma-informed practice (training provided)
13. Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection
14. Strong communication and report writing skills
15. Ability to work as part of a team and independently
16. Full UK Driving Licence
17. NISCC registration (or willingness to obtain registration)
18. Willingness to undergo an Enhanced Access NI check
Desirable
19. Registered with relevant professional body
20. Experience in residential or supported living environments

Working Pattern
26. 37 hours per week on a rota basis

Important Information
This role involves working in a high-support environment where young people may become dysregulated. Staff must be able to remain calm and respond appropriately to both verbal and physical challenges.
