CLIENT Our client is a Nottingham-based consultancy with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality cost consultancy and project management services. With a growing workload and expanding client base, they are now seeking to strengthen their team with the addition of an Assistant Quantity Surveyor or Quantity Surveyor. ROLE As Assistant / Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for supporting or leading (depending on experience) the financial and contractual management of construction projects from inception through to completion. You will work closely with clients and project teams to ensure cost efficiency, value for money, and commercial success. This role would suit either: An Assistant Quantity Surveyor looking to progress and gain APC support. A Quantity Surveyor with experience in consultancy or client-side roles, seeking to broaden their project exposure across diverse sectors. RESPONSIBILITIES Key responsibilities of the role include: Preparing cost estimates, budgets, and feasibility studies. Managing or assisting with tender processes, including preparing bills of quantities and contract documentation. Carrying out valuations of work in progress and preparing interim applications for payment. Monitoring project costs and producing financial reports. Negotiating and agreeing final accounts. Advising on procurement strategies and contract management. Ensuring compliance with contractual and legal requirements. Delivering a high level of client service and communication. PERSON To be successful in this role, candidates should ideally have: Previous experience in a Quantity Surveying role within a consultancy (Assistant or QS level). A relevant degree-level qualification (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management. Working towards professional chartership (RICS/APC support available) or already chartered. Strong numerical, analytical, and commercial awareness. Good knowledge of standard forms of construction contracts (JCT, NEC etc.). Excellent communication and negotiation skills. A proactive, team-focused approach with a commitment to client satisfaction.
