Total control of your week, your workload and your future.
You decide how your days are structured. Whether it’s starting late, finishing early or working remotely, you’ll have genuine freedom over where, when, and how you work.
There’s no national travel, no chasing dozens of sites. You’ll work on a few local projects with clients who respect your time and expertise. No micromanagement, no pointless admin - just trust, autonomy, and clarity. They call it macromanaging.
You’ll also stay fully registered and active, maintaining your classifications through inspection work while having more say in shaping outcomes - not just enforcing them. You’ll be involved from the earliest stages of design, so you’re preventing problems instead of just reacting to them.
Why this role might suit you better
* Real flexibility: Set your hours, work from anywhere, and build a week that works around your life.
* Stay sharp: Stay registered as a Class 2 or 3 inspector while stepping into more advisory work.
* Early-stage input: Advise on projects before a spade hits the ground and cut risk before it starts.
* Interesting variety: Work on projects that stretch your knowledge, with products and materials you rarely see elsewhere.
* Less firefighting: By guiding the design team early, your advice helps avoid delays, rework, and compliance headaches.
* Career progression without corporate baggage: Join early, shape the direction, and move up quicker.
What you’ll do
* Advise clients and design teams from RIBA Stage 0 onwards
* Certify designs and plans ahead of construction
* Help manage documentation and compliance with the Building Safety Act
* Stay close to your projects—visible, trusted, and involved from start to finish
What you’ll need
* BSR Class 2 or 3 registration (current or recent)
* Ability to read and interpret construction drawings
* Experience working with design teams, consultants or directly with clients
