The Role
This is where you move from leading a team… to owning the operation.
You’ll be responsible for making sure the warehouse runs properly. Not just “busy” - but efficient, safe, and hitting targets consistently. You’ll be managing people, processes, and performance all at once.
It’s a step up in accountability. You’re not just overseeing tasks anymore, you’re responsible for making sure everything comes together and delivers.
What You’ll Be Doing
* Overseeing day to day warehouse operations across inbound, outbound and dispatch
* Managing team leaders and operatives to ensure performance targets are met
* Planning and allocating labour to meet workload and deadlines
* Ensuring orders are picked, packed and despatched on time
* Driving health and safety standards across the warehouse
* Monitoring performance, KPIs and reporting accuracy
* Holding team meetings and setting clear expectations
* Supporting, training and developing your team including appraisals
* Managing absence, holidays and general people management
* Dealing with issues quickly including operational and people challenges
* Working closely with clients and attending performance meetings
* Identifying areas for improvement and driving operational changes
What You’ll Need
* Strong experience within a warehouse or distribution environment
* Proven experience managing teams in a fast paced operation
* Good understanding of warehouse processes, KPIs and performance management
* Experience dealing with employee relations issues and people management
* Confidence communicating with both teams and clients
* Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
* Good IT skills including Excel and warehouse systems
* A proactive approach with a focus on improving how things are done
