Senior Estimator/Commercial Bid Manager – SISK Group
Join a family‑owned international construction company that builds excellence by delivering trust, certainty and value to clients. We are looking for an experienced estimator to ensure accurate cost estimation across projects and support commercial bid management.
Overview
The Senior Estimator is responsible for preparing explicit, consistent cost estimates, taking into account construction methods and all project circumstances. The role also supports bid coordination for research laboratories and advanced manufacturing schemes, with a focus on the pharmaceutical and high‑tech manufacturing sectors.
Responsibilities
* Prepare accurate cost estimates and tender submissions, incorporating NEC4 contracts and UK government bidding requirements.
* Build health and safety procedures into tender methodologies, focusing on S5 items and promoting SISK’s Zero Incidents Zero Injuries culture.
* Support the training and development of Estimators and Assistant/Graduate Estimators, maintaining personal development plans.
* Log and manage all tender documentation, issue and follow up on subcontractor and material enquiries, and benchmark competition levels.
* Review design information on build‑to‑build tenders to identify value savings and prepare clarifications, estimator notes, and record changes.
* Assist in tender risk and opportunity assessments, support value engineering schedules, and develop risk budgets.
* Maintain risk registers, perform tender reviews, analyse package returns, and prepare subcontractor analysis schedules.
* Develop and manage bid budgets, cash flow models, and client pricing documents.
Skills & Knowledge
* Good working knowledge of NEC, ICE, and ICC contract forms.
* Experience with estimating software such as Conquest.
* Analytical and numerical ability to evaluate detailed specifications, costs and risks.
* Knowledge of estimating processes within a Tier 1 contractor.
* Experience bidding for research laboratories and the pharmaceutical or high‑tech manufacturing sector.
* Familiarity with UK government bidding and NEC4 contracts.
Essential Qualifications
* Degree or equivalent experience in a relevant discipline.
* Valid CSCS card.
Desirable
* Membership or working towards a relevant professional body.
* Ongoing professional development in estimating, pre‑construction or commercial management.
